Day 1 : Welcome to Alice Springs

Fly to Alice Springs today. You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel.

Day 2 : A Town Like Alice

Your Central Australian adventure starts off today by exploring the modern face of the historic pioneer town of Alice Springs, famous for Afghan cameleers, gold-diggers, flying doctor base, school of the air, The Ghan train, the usually dry Todd River, the Simpson Desert, ‘A Town Like Alice’, contemporary Aboriginal art (Todd Mall) and the Aboriginal Arrernte people who have lived here for 20,000 years. Enjoy our 4.5 hour luxury coach tour with great informative commentary from our experienced local guide. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service (headquarters of the globally respected medical service providing a critical link to remote communities throughout the Northern Territory), Historic Telegraph Station (site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs, established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide), School of the Air (provides education to primary school aged children living on remote properties throughout the Northern Territory since 1951), Anzac Hill (dedicated as a war memorial to honour those that fallen in Australian’s wars) and Alice Springs Reptile Centre (amazing NT animals like, saltwater crocodiles, huge goannas, frill-neck lizards and Gecko Cave). You will also get a great orientation of thriving Alice Springs, touring through the town and seeing the other main attractions such as the Cultural Precinct, National Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame, Road Transport Hall of Fame, Old Ghan Train Museum, Olive Pink Botanic Gardens and Todd Mall. Enjoy some free time. Perhaps explore some more of Alice Springs or just relax in your hotel, taking advantage of the great facilities.

Day 3 : West MacDonnell Ranges

The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and array of sunburnt oranges, maroons and purples. View spectacular outback scenery and take photos as we travel along through magnificent Outback Country, stopping at the many historic locations. As we depart town, we will stop at the historical Flynn’s Grave Memorial. Enjoy beautiful walks at both Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm.

Day 4 : Tour from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock via Kata Tjuta

This morning, travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Stop to view Atila (Mt. Conner) before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. Enjoy a leisurely drive to Kata Tjuta to take in a magnificent outback sunset, while enjoying sparkling wine. *At certain times of the year, some services may operate using smaller vehicle.

Day 5 : Tour Ayers Rock and Surrounds

The majestic rock formation Uluru is better known as Ayers Rock, this mighty and impressive monolith is one of Australia’s best known natural landmarks and is sacred to the Aboriginal people, Uluru stands some 348 metres high and is 3.6 km long, its surface is made of of valleys, ridges and caves that were created over millions of years by erosion. Watch the sunrise at Uluru and then travel to Kata Tjuta and walk through Walpa Gorge. Later, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Center and then tour the sacred sites around the base of Uluru. Continue to the sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole. Witness the striking color changes of Uluru at sunset before continuing to our exclusive barbecue venue, where you’ll dine from a delicious menu accompanied by a selection of beverages.

Day 6 : Travel from Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon

Early this afternoon, travel through desert scenery on your way to Kings Canyon. On arrival, there may be time to view the sunset behind Carmichaels Crag.

Day 7 : Explore Kings Canyon and Return to Alice Springs

Make the rocky climb to the rim of Kings Canyon or you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed, a shady, easier walk. Your Short Break concludes back in Alice Springs.

Day 8 : Say Goodbye to Alice Springs

You will be transferred to the airport or train station to meet your flight or The Ghan Train.
