Itinerary

Day 1 Taipei

Your driver meets you at Taipei airport for the transfer to your hotel, which takes about an hour. This evening around 6pm, you’ll meet your tour guide and have a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Start point: Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan. Meals: Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Taipei

Starting with the Martyrs’ Shrine in the morning, you’ll head out for a full day around the city. After lunch, there’s the CKS Memorial Hall and Longshan Temple on the schedule, then Taipei 101 where you can take in the panoramic views. Later in the evening, you’ll join a walking food tour through one of Taipei’s night markets, trying 2-3 local dishes and a drink, then you’ll have free time to explore on your own. Heads up: you’ll be on your feet for several hours and seating is limited during the market tour.

Day 3 Taipei to Sun Moon Lake

Begin at the National Palace Museum, then grab dim sum lunch before driving south for about 3 hours to Sun Moon Lake. You’ll visit Wen Wu Temple, take a shared motorboat around the lake, and see Holy Monk Shrine, Tze-En Pagoda, and Tehua Village. After checking in for your two-night stay, the day winds down. Note that Wen Wu Temple has a 5-minute steep slope, Holy Monk Shrine has steep steps, and Tze-En Pagoda involves slopes and stairs.

Day 4 Sun Moon Lake

A short 20-minute drive takes you to Puli where you’ll visit a famous tea farm and taste some tea. In the afternoon, ride the cable car up to Formosan Cultural Village, where you can visit indigenous tribe homes, try theme park rides, or walk through Taiwan’s largest European garden. The cable car takes you back down for dinner at a local restaurant. Just so you know, there’s a gentle slope leading to and from the coach at the tea farm.

Day 5 Sun Moon Lake to Alishan

Drive about 2.5 hours into the mountains to reach Alishan National Scenic Area. You’ll board the famous Alishan Forest Railway for a scenic ride through tall cedar and cypress forests, then spend the afternoon walking around the Sacred Tree area and forest trails. Dinner happens at your mountain hotel. Then here’s the catch: you’ll need to wake up around 3-4am to catch the Zhushan sunrise train up to the viewing platform for an incredible sunrise over a sea of clouds and the Central Mountain Range. After that, head back for breakfast before checking out and driving toward Tainan. Bring warm layers since it’s much cooler up there.

Day 6 Alishan to Tainan

This morning you’ll drive about 2.5 hours to Tainan, Taiwan’s first capital. Start with the Chihkan Tower and Confucius Temple, then have lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon takes you to the Anping area where you’ll walk the old streets and visit Anping Fort, Anping Tree House, and Tait & Co. Merchant House. If you time it right, you can catch the sunset at Anping Harbor. Check in to your hotel, and there’s an optional night market tour available in the evening if you want it (you pay for this locally). Some steep steps show up at Chihkan Tower and Anping Fort.

Day 7 Tainan to Kaohsiung

About an hour south from Tainan, you’ll arrive in Kaohsiung to see the Dragon & Tiger Pagodas and Spring & Autumn Pavilions. The pagodas have plenty of stairs inside, though you can stay outside if you prefer. Next stop is Foguanshan Monastery, Taiwan’s largest, where you’ll have a vegetarian lunch and spend 2-3 hours on foot exploring the Main Shrine, Buddhist Museum, and Great Buddha Land. The day finishes at the Martyrs’ Shrine at Shoushan Park for views looking out over Kaohsiung Harbor.

Day 8 Kaohsiung to Kenting

Transfer around 2 hours south to the beach resort area of Kenting. You’ll explore Kenting National Park, walking for about 2 hours to see wildlife, plant life, and ocean scenery. Head to Maopitou after that to check out the rock formations. After checking in, you’ll have leisure time to relax at the beach. Dinner comes at Kenting Street Night Market with a walking food tour where you’ll sample 2-3 local foods and a beverage before heading back. The terrain is relatively flat with some rocky patches and occasional slopes and steps, but seating is minimal during the evening tour.

Day 9 Kenting

Drive 15 minutes from your hotel to Sheding Nature Park, which is part of Kenting National Park. You’ll spend 30-60 minutes on your feet with some stairs and steep hills to navigate. Then it’s another 15 minutes to Oluanpi Lighthouse. Return to your hotel for lunch and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure on the beach.

Day 10 Kenting to Chihpen

Take a leisurely morning before lunch at a local restaurant. Then drive about 2.5 hours along the East Coast toward Taitung, where you’ll see the Pacific Ocean the whole way. Continue to Chihpen, known for its hot springs, and check in to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in the hot springs at your hotel. Dinner is at the hotel tonight, and there’s an aboriginal music and dance performance included.

Day 11 Chihpen to Hualien

Head north to Taroko on a journey of around 5 hours with several stops along the way. You’ll visit Siaoyeliou, Dulan, Donghe (where you might spot wild monkeys), Sansiantai, and the scenic Cisingtan Lake area. Check in to your hotel in Hualien for a two-night stay and have dinner there. After dinner, there’s an optional aboriginal dance show if you’re interested. If you want to try lakeside cycling at Cisingtan Lake, that’s available for an additional fee (paid locally).

Day 12 Hualien

Visit Taroko National Park, one of Asia’s 7 wonders, where you can see the world’s only marble gorge. Walk about 30 minutes from the bus to reach the Gorge Gateway and Eternal Spring Shrine. After lunch, do some light hiking in the national park for 30-60 minutes depending on how you’re feeling. Get back to your hotel in Hualien for the evening. If the park is closed for any reason, the day shifts to starting at the Taroko Archway, visiting the Taroko Visitor Center, then heading into Hualien city to see Guangtian Temple and the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park.

Day 13 Hualien to Taipei

Start heading back to Taipei early this morning. About 30 minutes in, stop at the scenic Qingshui Cliff to take in the views. Continue for another 2.5 hours to Kavalan Whisky Distillery in Yilan, where you’ll learn how whisky is made and get a small tasting. After that, drive about 1.5 hours to reach Taipei. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 14 Taipei

Your morning is free before you head to the airport. Keep in mind that only breakfast is included today. If you want late check-out on your final day in Taipei, contact the hotel’s reservations desk to see pricing and availability.

Luggage

All the packages are inclusive of 23kg Check-in luggage / Hand luggage 7 kg. You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and offloading of the luggage from the coach.
