DAY 4 Cruise to Teal Flat

Awaken to the promise of a new day as you set sail from Woodlane, gliding upriver and soaking in the awe-inspiring panoramas of the Murray River system. The willows lining the banks tell a story of history, planted by riverboat captains in the early 1900s to guide their way through the often-hidden lagoons. Begin your morning with a choice of a light continental breakfast or a hearty cooked meal as you journey toward Mannum. Here, take a leisurely stroll through this charming historic town or sip a coffee while admiring the majestic Murray.

After your time in Mannum, continue your voyage upstream through Younghusband towards Teal Flat, enjoying a delectable lunch crafted by the onboard chefs. Dive deeper into the river’s beauty with a guided cruise through the shallows, getting up close to the magnificent cliffs aboard a small boat led by an expert ecologist. As evening descends, gather with fellow passengers for a refreshing drink before feasting on a traditional Aussie barbeque on the riverbank, all under a canopy of sparkling stars. The night comes alive with live entertainment around a warm campfire, where you can even request your favorite tunes to sing along with the resident musician!

Continental or hearty cooked breakfast, lunch, guided ecology cruise, special barbeque dinner, overnight accommodation onboard the Proud Mary.

DAY 5 Explore Mannum and return to Adelaide

This morning, enjoy a delightful breakfast while cruising downstream to Mannum, soaking in the natural beauty of this majestic stretch of the Murray. You’ll glide past the picturesque townships of Younghusband, Pellaring Flat, and Cowirra. Upon reaching Mannum, hop aboard the awaiting coach for an engaging tour of this historic riverside township. Discover the stunning landscapes, intriguing history, and proud riverboat heritage that characterize this quaint settlement. Learn about Mannum’s crucial role in South Australia’s development, including the launch of the first paddle-steamer, the “Mary Ann,” by Captain William Randell in 1853. Be sure to visit the Mannum Dock Discovery Centre, where a captivating collection of historical artifacts awaits you. Mannum also lays claim to being the birthplace of Australia’s first steam car with a differential, crafted by the Shearer brothers.

After your exploration, indulge in a delicious lunch featuring a superb selection of fresh local produce as you cruise downriver to Murray Bridge, passing through Ponde, Caloote Woodlane, Mypolonga, and Willow Banks. As your three-day cruise draws to a close, sit back and take in a captivating video presentation about the 1956 flood of the Murray River.
