Kuranda Scenic Railway – Rainforest Tour – Skyrail Cableway

The tropical village of Kuranda, nestled in the lush Wet Tropics Rainforest, is known for its bohemian charm, vibrant markets, cafes, galleries, shops, and butterfly sanctuary. Surrounding it is the Barron Gorge National Park, showcasing ancient rainforest, the Barron River, and a breathtaking waterfall. Your friendly driver will pick you up in a comfortable air-conditioned coach and provide informative commentary throughout the day. You’ll journey to Kuranda on the historic Scenic Railway, passing through rainforests, ravines, and waterfalls. An amphibious duck takes you on an up-close tour of the rainforest and river system, and you’ll have time to explore Kuranda. The famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, constructed in 1882, is an engineering marvel with handmade tunnels and bridges. It ascends from sea level to 328m, passing through rainforests, Barron Gorge National Park, Barron River, and Stoney Creek. In Kuranda, you can explore the ancient rainforest aboard an Army Duck, where you’ll encounter fascinating flora and fauna. A visit to a tropical fruit orchard introduces you to a variety of tropical fruits. You can also enjoy leisure time in the forest village, visit cafes, and shop for local arts and crafts.

The journey back involves a Skyrail Rainforest Cableway gondola ride with breathtaking views. It passes over Barron Gorge National Park and offers a glimpse of the Great Barrier Reef. Along the way, you can alight at rainforest mid-stations to explore and learn more about the rainforest’s unique features. As your coach returns you to your hotel, you’ll carry with you cherished memories of a day filled with exploration and natural beauty in the heart of tropical North Queensland.
